St. Louis Renaissance Faire

In May we went to the local Renaissance Faire with the Trohas. I was excited to see how this one went down, after years of going to the one out in Kansas City. I didn't think it was quite up to par with their ren faire, but I can't say I was disappointed either. Here are the kiddos ready to head out the door!

After walking around a bit, we got settled in to watch the jousting tournament.

After much ado...

....and prancing about....

....the jousters demonstrated their prowess by threading their lances through tiny hoops at galloping speed.

There's our champion with his little hoop!

Eyeing the ring for another round....

And then the real jousting began!

ooooooo

ahhh! Broken lance! See it flying through the air in pieces?

Yikes!

And then the bloody duel. And it really was a bloody duel. Our champion lost and got his throat slit right there on the field!! I wasn't expecting that bit of gore and violence. Glad we didn't have a front row seat!

Catching the bawdy pirate show...

....while Reagan got her hair done up in a fancy braid!

Pretty!

We ran into the queen and her court while we were waiting to get started on the face painting.

Logan chatted up the queen. He pretty much chats up anyone these days.

Claire sat so still and patient while getting her face painted.

Sweet lil ladybug!

Very nice!

Logan is getting started on a full-face pirate getup!

Cooper got a pretty cool dragon.

AAARRRRR!

Not sure if you recognize them, but that's Logan, Reagan, Cooper and Claire!

On the way out we had to spend $3 to dunk the guy. Logan never did hit the target.

But, they ended up dousing him with the water anyway. (As well they should have, for $3!)

That's a handsome pirate!

Claire and Logan listen as the king and queen bid farewell.

And after a song that was way too long, too boring, and too off-key, it was time to go!

But will we do it again? I have a feeling we will!

Love,
Mama
